DANNI und die Hüter des Silbersees
📘 Danni und die Hüter des Silbersees.
Ein Westerwald-Roman von Manfred Harlos.
A novel about a place that is preserved.
And about people who learn to take responsibility without possessing it.
🔹 Synopsis
Danni is a hiking guide in the Westerwald. She knows the paths, the forests, and the quiet places. When she discovers inexplicable traces near Silbersee during a tour, her perception of this place begins to change.
Encounters, signs, and old legends lead her to realize that Silbersee is more than just a landscape. It is part of a balance that has been preserved for generations – by people who never sought the limelight.
"Danni and the Guardians of Silbersee" tells of origin, responsibility, and the question of how to deal with something bigger than oneself.
🔹 Story Description
Silbersee lies nestled in the landscape of the Westerwald. For many, it is a place of tranquility. For Danni, it is part of her everyday life. As a hiking guide, she leads people through this region, telling them about paths, rocks, and history.
But during a hike, hints solidify that this place holds more within it than is visible. Old signs, the Blue Heap, the so-called Eye of God – all of this slowly forms a connection that does not want to be explained, but understood.
Danni meets people who have lived with this knowledge for a long time:
Hilda, who preserves without lecturing.
Manfred, who observes, doubts, and holds on.
In the course of the story, Danni realizes that her connection to Silbersee is no coincidence. She stands in a line of people whose task it was to protect the balance between man, nature, and memory – not through intervention, but through mindfulness.
When external interventions threaten this balance, it becomes clear that guardianship does not mean power. It demands restraint, joint action, and the willingness to share responsibility.
The novel does not end with a solution, but with a transition:
The place remains. The people move on. Guardianship becomes part of everyday life.
