FORMULAE MAGIAE is the reconstruction of a tradition that appears to be far older than its known fragments.
At its center is Valen – scribe, collector, and preserver of lost teachings. On his travels through libraries, archives, temples, and forgotten places, he gathers clues to a common source from which the most diverse magical traditions might have developed.
But Valen seeks no power.
He seeks connections.
He seeks the patterns behind the words, the signs behind the symbols, and the memory behind the stories.
Volume I – The Word leads the reader to the origin of this quest. It is the story of a discovery that begins with a single question:
What if all traditions were once part of the same teaching?
Between myth, history, and fragments, a work emerges that is neither a classic novel nor a non-fiction book, but a literary reconstruction of a lost tradition.
And yet a mystery remains:
The last pages are missing.
About the Author
VALEN:
Little is known about Valen.
The surviving fragments describe him as a scribe, traveler, and collector of forgotten teachings. His name appears in manuscripts of different origins, passed down separately over centuries.
Whether Valen was a historical person, a group of scribes, or merely the name of a transmitter, has not yet been conclusively clarified.
This edition reproduces the transmitted information unchanged.

Over several years, fragments of an unusual manuscript tradition came into our possession.
The texts existed in various versions: partly damaged, partly incomplete, partly supplemented by later copies. Two elements repeatedly appeared: the name VALEN and the title FORMULAE MAGIAE.
This edition makes no claim to completeness.
It is based on the currently known fragments, commentaries, and traditions of the so-called Formulae Magiae tradition.
Our task was not to create a new work.
Our task was to collect, organize, and put the fragments into a readable form.
Whether all the mysteries of this work will ever be solved remains an open question.
