KNATTERWIND
The Song for the Book "The Return of the Red Crate"
An old barn. A red crate under a dusty tarp. Eight children. And an idea that sparks a grand adventure.
"Knatterwind" is the official song for the new children's book series "Knatterwind" and its first volume, "The Return of the Red Crate" by Manfred Harlos.
The song captures the essence of the story: When eight-year-old Malena discovers the 45-year-old soapbox car Knatterwind in Grandpa's workshop barn, something begins that goes far beyond restoring an old vehicle.
Gradually, friends join in. They research, plan, tinker, experiment, discard, and start anew. Modern media meets wood, tools, and craftsmanship. A teacher recognizes the project's potential, adults offer support – but the real power comes from the children themselves.
The song poetically tells of friendship, courage, memories, and how a small idea can become something real.
"Knatterwind, fly with the wind – show the world what we are together."
It's not about telling children that everything used to be better. Rather, Knatterwind connects two worlds: today's digital possibilities with the joy of creating something together with one's own hands.
And perhaps, after the book and the song, one thought will remain:
"We want to build that too."
If Knatterwind inspires children, families, groups of friends, or schools to get creative themselves, one of the most beautiful goals of this project would be achieved.
Ideas become reality.
